When you purchase a mutual fund you can end up paying as much as 5% up front, or be locked in the product for 8 years with back-end sales charges. Annuities are even worse. With annuities there are so many hidden fees that it's almost impossible to know exactly what you're paying for the product, but it can be as much as 4% per year! And many times you will be told by the advisor that "there are no commissions!". That is not true! There are fees, but they are not called commissions....Watch this video to learn more
